In his last role, he was a member of the Executive Committee and head of O&T for Thailand’s leading banking group – Siam Commercial Bank. He is also an active entrepreneur, acting as a mentor, director and investor for fintech organisations. He has pioneered many digital start-ups for web, mobile & data analytics, leading implementations of innovative capabilities far ahead of their time.

He now spends his time as an Investor, Director, Advisor and Consultant in fintech/ BFSI. He is a Senior Advisor with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Chief Strategy Advisor for Intellect Design Arena Limited a listed technology Product Company.
Syamal Gupta is a Fellow of the Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine, London, Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (London) FI Mech E, and a Foreign Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Gupta has been with the Tata Group since 1955 when he started his career with Tata Steel, Jamshedpur as a trainee after graduating in mechanical engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has served Tata Steel in various capacities.
In 1972, he was deputed to Singapore as the Managing Director of a greenfield project, the Tata Precision Industries Pte Limited and to promote the Tata Government Training Centre. Subsequently, Mr. Gupta returned to India to take over as the Managing Director of Tata International Limited (formerly Tata Exports Limited) in 1982.
Mr Gupta has been the Director on the Board of Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of the Tata group and the Chairman of Tata International Limited, Tata Elxsi Limited, Tata BP Solar India Limited, TCE Consulting Engineers and Tata Advanced Materials till recently.
He was on the board of several overseas companies including, Tata Africa Holding (SA) (Pty) Ltd, South Africa, Tata South East Asia Ltd Hong Kong, Tata (UAE) FZE, Dubai, Tata Incorporated USA among others. Under the stewardship of Mr Gupta, the company forayed into various countries in Africa, South East Asia and China since the 1980s.
Mr. Gupta continues to promote international relations with various countries. Mr. Gupta is currently serves as Chairman on Tata Eastern Medical Trust and Trustee on Tata Medical Trust.
He was on the Presidential Advisory Councils of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Ghana. He is a member of the Commonwealth Business Council and a member of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) National Council.
Mr Gupta has been actively promoting collaborative initiatives in the field of higher learning particularly those with leading universities of the UK and the US. He is the Founder-Chairman of the Imperial College India Foundation a not-for-profit company set up to facilitate exchange of higher education and cutting edge R&D between India and the UK.
He is a visiting professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Imperial College London.
He is currently the Honorary Consul General of Namibia.
Mr. Ashok Sinha, B.Tech (Elect), MBA served as the Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd., from March 1, 2005 to August 18, 2010. Prior to that, Mr. Sinha served as Director of Finance at Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. since November 22, 1995. He has 30 years of experience in the Petroleum Industry. During his association with BPCL, he has handled key responsibilities in the areas of corporate affairs, Planning, Information Technology and Retail Marketing and has vast experience in Oil business. He served as Managing Director of BPCL since August 19, 2005 and joined it in August 1977. He was with International Computers Private Limited from October 1973 to July 1975.

He serves as the Chairman of Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. and a Chairman of Bharat Petro Resources Limited. He was the Chairman of the Board of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. until December 19, 2010. Mr. Sinha served as the Chairman of Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. since March 1, 2005 until August 18, 2010 and Indraprastha Gas Limited from March 1, 2005 to January 14, 2007. He has been an Independent Director at CMC (Subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services) Limited since July 11, 2012. He is also an Independent Director of Petronet LNG Ltd., since June 28, 2011. Mr. Sinha serves as a Director of Bharat Petro Resources Ltd. He serves as Director of Kochi Refineries Ltd. and Bharat Shell Ltd. He has been Director of Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. since April 4, 1995. Mr. Sinha has been an Additional Director of Cipla Limited since July 16, 2013. He was a Non Executive Director of Petronet Lng Ltd until August 19, 2010. He served as Chairman & MD at Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. until August 18, 2010. Mr. Sinha was a Director of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. from September 14, 2001 to August 2010.
He has been conferred with the India Chief Financial Officer Award 2001 for Information and Knowledge Management by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) India and American Express. Mr. Sinha has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and Masters in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, with specialization in Finance. He has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur as well as from IIM, Bangalore
